Blog post about the CLARIN seminars on legal issues that were organised to enhance competencies relating to legal aspects of language research and strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation within CLARIN.

 

The corpus comprises two types of speech resources, the first containing spontaneous speech material of four children at their early age – from one to three years old, and the other comprising stories based on a series of pictures with 90 children at pre-school age from three to six years old.

Darja Fišer has recently taken up the post of Vice Executive Director of CLARIN .

 

The British Association for Applied Linguistics organized a workshop on Data-Driven Learning on 8 June 2018 at Coventry University. At the workshop, Martin Wynne gave an introduction to CLARIN, and distributed fliers. There were 44 people in attendance.

 

This year the European Summer University in Digital Humanities “Culture and Technology” (ESU) celebrated its 10th anniversary.

 

Nadezda Okinina, the developer of the Trans&Anno, led a CLARIN workshop about the tool during the 5th Learner Corpus Research conference in Warsaw.

 

Experts on tools for working with historical documents met in Berlin in September for a CLARIN workshop to exchange ideas, experiences about tools and methods.

 

The IMPACT Centre of Competence in digitisation, founded in 2012, is a non-profit organisation that aims at making digitisation of historical texts better, faster and cheaper.

 

The BTB-Pipe language pipeline for Bulgarian has been developed incrementally over the last twenty years, starting with the Bulgarian-German BulTreeBank project for the creation of a Bulgarian treebank.

CLARIN is proud to announce that the PORTULAN CLARIN K-Centre, the Knowledge Centre for the Science and Technology of the Portuguese Language has been officially recognized as a CLARIN K-Centre.

 

Bulgaria has been a founding member of CLARIN since 2012. In 2014, following the strategic plan of the Bulgarian Government and Ministry of Education and Science, the CLARIN and DARIAH Infrastructures merged into a single infrastructure called CLaDA-BG (CLARIN and DARIAH in Bulgaria) and obtained funding in 2018.

 
CLARIN ERIC and Time Machine join forces for a research and innovation partnership promoting the future of European cultural heritage.
 

HUN-CLARIN devised the concept of a Roadshow series that is based on the idea of proactively (and literally) bringing language technology to where humanities research is actually done, namely, to Hungarian universities.

 

The 2019 Steven Krauwer Award for CLARIN Achievements is awarded to Menzo Windhouwer and the 2019 Steven Krauwer Young Scientist Award is awarded to Jakob Lenardič.

Noémi Vadász is a PhD student and junior research fellow who works at the Research Institute for Linguistics. As a computational linguist with a formal background in syntax and semantics, she collaborates with HUN-CLARIN in the e-magyar project.
