CLARIN is based on a distributed network of organisations (or centres) that host language resources (data and tools) and related services. Available language resources can be explored via the individual repositories. Many CLARIN centres also offer a wide variety of applications or tools to discover, explore, exploit, annotate, analyse or combine language data.

Protected Resources
Thanks to federated login, protected applications and data sets are available to anyone with an academic account (all participating identity federations), see Easy Access to Protected Resources.
For cases where an academic account does not belong to an identity federation that has ties with the SPF, the CLARIN Identity Provider has been created, allowing users to register a CLARIN account. For information on how to do this, see this help page on the CLARIN Forum.
Depositing Services
What? To help researchers store their resources (e.g. corpora, lexica, audio and video recordings, annotations, grammars, etc.) in a sustainable way, many CLARIN centres offer a depositing service.
Best for: Storing your resources and receiving support with technical and organisational details.
Language Resources Inventory
Via LINDAT/CLARIN-CZ, CLARIN also offers an easy-to-use inventory for language resources (and tools), which allows you to browse through the submissions and submit metadata (and optionally data) about relevant language resources.
It differs from the other Depositing Services in that it does not require users to upload data, metadata (e.g. a link to a website and a description is enough) and can be used immediately, without contacting the hosting centre beforehand.
Curated Resources
ParlaMint
What? ParlaMint, a CLARIN flagship project, resulted in the creation of comparable corpora of parliamentary debates of 29 European countries and autonomous regions, covering at least the period from 2015 to 2022, and containing over 1 billion words.
Best for: Corpora that are uniformly encoded, annotated up to the level of Universal Dependencies syntax and named entities.
CLARIN Resource Families
What? The Resource Families provide a user-friendly overview per data type of the available language resources in the CLARIN infrastructure.
Best for: There are more than 20 families, from academic text corpora to sentiment analysis tools.
CLARIN Applications
In addition to the rich offer of the CLARIN centres, CLARIN centrally develops gateway applications and services to help researchers find, use and process language resources.
Content Search
What? A search engine to search for specific patterns across data collections available in the centres.
Best for: First searches to find out at which centre(s) a more specialised search could be useful. Follow the Tutorial for how to use the Content Search.
Virtual Language Observatory
What? The Virtual Language Observatory (VLO) provides a means of exploring language resources, reviewing processing options for resources discovered via the Language Resource Switchboard (see below), and creating virtual collections via the Virtual Collection Registry (see below). The integrated help page offers support with browsing and querying.
Best for: Specific research questions and targeted searches thanks to its powerful query syntax.
SSH Open Marketplace
What? The SSH Open Marketplace is developed and maintained by CLARIN, CESSDA and DARIAH. It pools and contextualises resources, including tools, services, training materials, datasets, publications and workflows.
Best for: Discovering resources for the Social Sciences and Humanities.
Virtual Collections
What? A virtual collection is a coherent set of links to digital objects (e.g. annotated text, video) that can be easily created, accessed and cited. CLARIN provides a registry which is closely integrated with the infrastructure and provides persistent identifiers and federated login. The collection metadata is openly available and accessible via the VLO.
Best for: Creating and publishing virtual collections.
Language Resource Switchboard
What? The Language Resource Switchboard can assist with finding the right processing tool for your data. Upload a file, or enter a URL, and the switchboard will provide guidance to have your data processed with a CLARIN tool.
