Last January, participants from Spain, Belgium, Belarus, Ireland, Slovakia, UK, Iceland, Cyprus and Croatia attended the new edition of the CLARIN Newcomers’ workshop that was hosted in Utrecht.

The workshop presenters (Bente Maegaard, Dieter van Uytvanck and Franciska de Jong) covered important aspects regarding the setting up of a national consortium and technical CLARIN centre and provided, information about the CLARIN agreement, costs, Knowledge sharing, User Involvement, Legal and Ethical issues and more.

The purpose of the newcomers’ workshop is 1) to give an introduction to those who just joined CLARIN, and 2) to prepare those who wish to join. The two different audiences have proven to have overlapping questions and problems, some of them have been solved in some cases, and the solutions can be shared.

The workshop was considered very successful, and follow-up actions are being prepared in several countries.

The programme with links to the presentations can be found on the workshop webpage.
