Slovenia has joined CLARIN ERIC

Submitted by Linda Stokman on

We are happy to announce that Slovenia has joined CLARIN !

The research infrastructure CLARIN.SI was established as a Slovene research infrastructure in 2013 and became a member of CLARIN ERIC in May 2015.

For the establishment of the Slovene CLARIN.SI Consortium, the Slovenian Language Technologies Society first published a call for members, after which the CLARIN.SI Consortium Agreement was drawn up and signed by the nine founding members, and three new ones joined afterwards, bringing the current total of CLARIN.SI to twelve members. They join all the major Slovene institutions working on linguistics, lexicography, and language technologies, including four universities, three research institutes, three societies and two companies.

The CLARIN.SI web platform currently gives information about the infrastructure and about language centers, resources and tools in Slovenia and for the Slovene language. It hosts a concordancer over a number of corpora and has established its repository for language resources, using the Czech CLARIN/LINDAT software.

Tomaž Erjavec has been appointed as the Slovene National Coordinator and Simon Krek is the Deputy National Coordinator.
