About

This interactive, hands-on workshop is a cooperation between CLARIN and EHRI, bringing language technology together with Holocaust archives and data, following on from the event 'Making Holocaust Oral Testimonies More Usable as Research Data' held at King's College, London in May 2023.

Programme

Proposals are invited from projects and researchers who want to engage in interdisciplinary exchange of experience and methods. Proposals will be organized on the basis of common topics or methods into presentations, hands-on demos, tutorials, and panel discussions, as appropriate. We welcome experts from the field of computational linguistics as well as Holocaust researchers, projects and archives keen to test new approaches on their data and against their research questions. Please see also the page for this event on the EHRI website here.

Registration

Participation will be by invitation only. If you are interested in participating, please read the Call for Participants and complete the application form by January 15 2024. There will be the opportunity for invited attendees and successful applicants to apply for travel and accommodation costs. We will inform you of the outcome of your application by February 15.

Language Policy

The language of the workshop will be English. Research involving the multiple languages of Holocaust testimonies and documentation is encouraged and will be a central pillar of the workshop.

Target Audience

Historians, archivists, curators of collections in museums and memory institutions, linguists and computational linguists.
