Train and bus to the workshop venue
By train: Schiphol Airport Amsterdam - Utrecht Central Station (35 minutes)
The Schiphol train station is situated directly next to the airport. Train tickets or a OV-chipkaart are available from the yellow ticket machines near the platforms at Schiphol Plaza or from the ticket offices, which are situated close to the red/white-checked cube at Schiphol Plaza. Trains depart for Utrecht about every 15 minutes. Buy a one-way ticket ("enkele reis") to Utrecht Central Station (€ 9.40; eTickets can be bought on-line in advance at www.ns.nl). Intercity trains are faster than local "sprinter" trains. When in doubt, you can always ask someone at the ticket office. For journey advice and time tables you can also check: NS.nl or 9292.nl
By bus: from Utrecht Central Station you can take the bus to the workshop venue.
You can buy a ticket on the bus from the bus driver (no cash, cards only) or make use of the OV Chip card (for details on how to use it: see Wikipedia).
Buses leave from the centre side (Centrumzijde) of the station (bus platform A) and from the other side (Jaarbeurszijde, bus platform D). Platform A is closer to the centre, but buses leaving from there are often very crowded or very small. We would normally recommend to go to platform D.
For platform D go to exit “Jaarbeurszijde” (beyond railway track 21). From there you can take the following buses:
- line 4 - direction "Voordorp" (from D2, get off at "Janskerkhof", 3rd stop)
- line 8 - direction "Wilhelminapark via Diakonessenhuis" (from D2, get off at "Janskerkhof", 3rd stop)
- line 55 - direction "Maartensdijk via Tuindorp" (from D2, get off at "Janskerkhof", 3rd stop)
- line 77 - direction "Bilthoven Station" (from D2, get off at "Janskerkhof", 2nd stop)
For platform A go to exit "Centrumzijde" (beyond tracks 1-4). From there you can take the following buses:
- line 2 - direction "Museumkwartier" (from A2, get off at "Janskerkhof", 3rd stop)
- line 28 - direction "De Uithof P+R Rijnsweerd" (from A4, get off at "Janskerkhof", 3rd stop)
From bus stop “Janskerkhof” you need to cross the street onto the 'Janskerkhof' square. The last building on your left (on the corner of 'Drift' and 'Janskerkhof') is Janskerkhof 13.
The building Janskerkhof 13 has two entrances; take the entrance at number 13 (rather than 13A), on the right hand side of the building, towards the corner with Drift – see photo. When you enter the building you can find the 'Stijlkamer' (room 0.06) on the ground floor, on your left hand side (next to the secretary room).
On your way back you can take all buses from Janskerkhof going back in the direction of the Central Station, except line 27.
Generally, for journey advice using public transportation, please see Google Maps.
