Summer School Culture & Technology

The Summer School Culture & Technology – 8th European Summer University in Digital Humanities (ESU DH C & T) takes place across 11 whole days. The intensive programme consists of workshops, public lectures, regular project presentations, a poster session, teaser sessions and a panel discussion.A limited number of scholarships is provided and the language of the Summer School is English.

Especially the following classes will be of interest for motivated students at all levels of qualification, including PhD students, master students and advanced BA students in the CLARIN context:

  • Christoph Draxler (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität): Introduction
    to programming for the Web

  • Axel Herold / Henriette Ast (Berlin-Brandenburgischen
    Akademie der Wissenschaften): From Print and Manuscript to Electronic Version:
    Text Digitization and Annotation

  • Christoph Draxler ((Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität): Working
    with SQL and graph databases

  • Pawel Kamocki (IDS Mannheim) / Thorsten Trippel
    (Eberhard-Karls Universität Tübingen): Data Management and legal and ethical
    issues

  • Jochen Tiepmar/Monica Berti (Universität Leipzig): Text
    Mining with Canonical Text Services - Using a Text Reference System for
    Citation Analysis, Text Alignment and more

Other classes and plenary talks will also be of interest to participants from the CLARIN centres and user communities. The Summer School will again be supported by CLARIN-D and CLARIN . And also co-financing it through the CLARIN ERIC User Involvement events call for proposals.
