On September 24, 2015, the Czech National Consortium LINDAT/CLARIN organized a one-day Digital Humanities Workshop in Prague. The workshop took place under the auspices of the Czech Ministry of education, youth and sport and it was supported also by the EHRI and CESSDA research infrastructures. The chair of the preparatory committee was the Czech CLARIN national coordinator Eva Hajičová and the members were Jindřich Krejčí, Michal Frankl, Jan Hajič, and Jaroslava Hlaváčová.
The programme of the workshop consisted of four blocks:
(i) four invited talks given by representatives of European large research infrastructures (Steven Krauwer - CLARIN , Carlotta Greci – UK Data Archive, Laurent Romary – DARIAH, Veerle Vanden Daelen – EHRI).
(ii) plenary talks by two representatives of Czech research infrastructures involved in European programmes (given by J. Krejčí from CESSDA and J. Hajič from LINDAT/CLARIN).
(iii) presentations of 18 posters prepared by Czech research teams and documenting the development and use of infrastructures in different domains of humanities and social sciences.
(iv) two panel discussions, one of which was devoted to the issues of what infrastructures may offer to the users, and the other to the requirements and wishes of users .
At the end of the workshop the participants were invited to visit the MALACH Center (part of LINDAT-CLARIN) to get acquainted with the video archive of the holocaust testimonies and to have an opportunity to search in the archive. A book of Proceedings of the workshop contains abstracts of the invited talks and full texts accompanying the posters.
The workshop was attended by 65 participants from the Czech Republic. The talks were simultaneously translated between Czech and English. The immediate response of the participants was very positive and the discussion was lively and interesting. The invited guests from abroad were pleasantly surprised by the richness of the programme and by the active interest of the participants.
