New SPF members: Latvia and Poland
The CLARIN SPF services are now also available to users in Latvia and Poland. (For Poland, the number of institutes that have an Identity Provider is still low though.) And did you know that recently the CLARINO colleagues made the ICAME corpora available via federated login?
Final CMDI 1.2 specification document
The task force of CLARIN's centre committee has made available a new version of CLARIN's metadata framework: CMDI 1.2. It is ready to be used throughout the infrastructure, while support for existing CMDI metadata is kept. General information, technical details (including a formal specification) and answers to potential questions from a number of user groups can be found on the CMDI 1.2 pages on the CLARIN website.
Metadata Harvesting schedule
Following a number of optimisations and bug fixes in the infrastructure surrounding CLARIN’s metadata harvesting and processing pipeline, a new harvesting schedule has been put in place: metadata providers at CLARIN centres are harvested every Monday and Thursday, starting at 20:00 CEST, and a selection of other providers are harvested every Friday, also starting at 20:00 CEST.
Draft Software Development Guidelines
A draft document describing guidelines for software development within CLARIN projects is now available on the CLARIN Trac. (access information at https://www.clarin.eu/dev) The need for such a document follows from the limited temporal scope of most projects, and the consequence that original developer(s) will often not be available for support outside the context of the project. Therefore, additional care has to be taken with respect to a number of aspects that factor into the 'sustainability' of a software project as described in this document. It is meant to be a living document so any feedback is welcome at any point!
